CHOOSING WORK-LIFE BALANCE
- The Keys to Achieving What Many Think is Unattainable

What the Book is about
This book addresses one of life’s most important issues - achieving work-life balance. It introduces the Umbrella Model (the “U” (YOU) Model) to help YOU understand and achieve work-life balance. The model focusses on “YOU” who have the ultimate control and things that YOU can do yourself. The Model brings together many of life’s inter-connecting issues; namely, healthy lifestyle, your unique identity, and life management skills, to assist YOU to understand and attain work-life balance. This book discusses important concepts, asks probing questions, and offers practical guidance for YOU to develop an action plan that, upon implementation, will make work-life balance a reality.

Regrettably, for many people, a balanced life is an ideal rather than a reality.

Since work constitutes a major component of most people’s life, this book focusses on work-life balance. Based on many years of life experience and my own attempts in maintaining work-life balance, I wrote this book to seek understanding about what barriers to work-life balance are and how to overcome them. Building on day-to-day observations of life situations, this book reflects on the reasons behind life’s occurrences, identifies broader concepts, offers practical tips, and includes sample tools that can be tried out readily.
